I write, parent, craft and garden in Darebin, on the land of the Wurundjeri people.

My garden is small, so I've been limited in how far I can indulge my love for roses and still have space for fruit trees, and veg beds and all the rest of it.

This Golden Celebration was the first rose I put in - it has wicked thorns!

To me it smells of Tea rose and lychee with a hint of lemon. A rose-loving friend says she gets guava rather than lychee. Either way, the scent is delicious.

Here's a baby Smyrna quince. Using only organic methods, can I keep it – and its mates – codling-moth free until autumn? #Gardening #Melbourne #Darebin
My dwarf Bramley apple tree is in its second year and, after judicious culling, has 5 baby apples! Hoping they all make it through to April. #Gardening #Darebin #Melbourne
