I have a note in Google Docs dated 29th of September 2021 that I am now screenshotting and publishing, because there is a #DoctorWho rumour that this is almost exactly what is happening in the 60th anniversary... and I don't know how Russell T Davies accessed my computer: Replace "13th" with "14th".

I watched Ben Wheatley's "In the Earth" last night and it was a fantastic, in turns bleak and lysergic, exploration of the tension between science and religion's mediation of our relationship with the earth. Evocative of 70s cosy catastrophe sci-fi and folk horror, like Quatermass on mushrooms. Not many people on Rotten Tomatoes seem to have understood that.

Oh, #ChatGPT - I just wanted to feel the thrill of being alive.

So... this is weird. I'm a fairly uncontroversial UK based tech journalist and academic, with 2K followers on the birdsite. When I tweeted it was a bit left-leaning, very techie, and sometimes geeky. In my last few tweets, I've criticised Elon Musk, his management of Twitter, and his tacit endorsement of MAGA and conspiracy theory. Now I'm shadowbanned. If anyone else who's been critical of EM wants to check if they've been shadowbanned - try https://shadowban.yuzurisa.com/

Let's remember a more positive Beatles anniversary than today's more obvious one. It's 55 years since the release of the Magical Mystery Tour EP. Long since deleted from the catalogue and replaced by the US LP compilation instead. It's an imperfect continuation of Pepper era Beatles psyche that casually packs in several classics. Fool on the Hill, I Am the Walrus, the title track. No one could touch them in 1967.
