‪Finished in 3.5 hours (I took a 45 min break to watch an episode of all creatures great and small). Yay!!‬
Went to IKEA for a new bed frame. It is now 2.45pm. Here’s hoping I get it constructed before bedtime. New wee IKEA LEGO set is my reward for finishing. Looking at the IKEA part packs, is it any wonder why I love building IKEA furniture as much as I love building LEGO. Almost.

My friend Josh and I were chatting about #StarTrek at Bob’s Big Boy last night, and we spitballed two ideas for #StarTrekPicard S3 that I think were big missed opportunities. (SEASON 3 SPOILERS.)

1) WORF MEETS ELNOR

We all know Worf is racist toward Romulans. They killed his parents. Well, we’ve got this Romulan kid who is very honorable, loves swords as much as Worf, is the first of his kind to join Starfleet like Worf, and they’re both good friends with Raffi. Imagine the scenes we’d get when Worf’s unintentional humor and Elnor’s absolute candor collide. These two should meet!

2) RECOMMISSION THE ENTERPRISE-D

They needed to tick a box of revealing a new Enterprise at the end but couldn’t afford a brand new ship — why not reactivate the D? The Titan is a 30 year old starship with tech so old only Shaw knew how some of it worked. Turning it into the new Enterprise makes limited sense. The D is only slightly older: 38 years. The Galaxy-class is probably still active — look how long the Excelsior and Miranda kept going. Is Starfleet really going to let a perfectly good starship sit in a museum? And, besides making more sense as the homebase of a Legacy spinoff than the Titan with a new name slapped on it, isn’t it also a more emotionally satisfying ending to see Captain Seven, Raffi, Sydney and Jack fly off on a new mission on the Enterprise-D?

Am I crazy or should Josh and I be writing for Star Trek???

I'd heard of Vieques and knew that the US Navy had used it - a place where people live - for bombing practice, but even though that has ceased, the people's struggle has not.

"There’s a big wave coming. It’s surging forth towards The Australian National University (ANU) and will wash over campus from 11 to 14 April with a powerful message: To Hell with Drowning!"

The fact that the federal minimum wage has stagnated at $7.25 since 2009 is atrocious.

But it's worse than that.

Adjusted for inflation, the federal minimum wage is worth 28% less today than it was worth in 2009.

It’s worth 41% less than in 1968.

An absolute disgrace.

The next time you hear someone repeating pro-gun NRA propaganda, you can respond with these 5 points:

This is expected, but happy news nonetheless: Star Trek: Strange New Worlds and Star Trek: Lower Decks have both been renewed for a third and fifth season respectively. The second and fourth seasons will air this summer.

With Star Trek: Picard thus far going out an incredibly high note this is great news for Trekkies despite Discovery going off the air with season 5 next year.

Not gonna lie, the newest step in the ongoing demonisation and scapegoating of trans people -- the reaction to this mass shooting in Nashville -- is deeply, deeply frightening. I'm so glad I don't live in the US but many innocent people do, and they are going to bear the brunt of this witch-hunt. I do not like where this goes.
