I can’t change or control the behaviour of other people, whether they are in the news or in my own life.

I *can* control how I react, and what I focus on. I *can* ensure I get my work done and enough rest. I *can* choose where and how I spend my time, and with whom.

Being a first time speaker at my favorite #cybersecurity conference a few weeks ago was an amazing experience and having the opportunity to catch up with a lot of colleagues and meet new people at @BlueTeamCon this year made it a fantastic weekend in Chicago.

Thankful for all the great work volunteers and staff at #BlueTeamCon do every year.

Why there is no secret recipe to start your career in cybersecurity - flaksec

In the realm of cybersecurity, it is easy to feel overwhelmed by the sheer volume of advice articles and YouTube tutorials promising the ultimate blueprint to kickstart your career. These resources often make it seem like there's a single, well-paved path to success. But the reality is far from it.

Back in the 90s, when I was 11, I had a conversation on Usenet with this dude called Todd Howard, who said he wanted to make a space RPG. I am 41. Today, it arrived.

Thank you to everyone that was part of @BlueTeamCon 2023 for an amazing weekend.

Adopting a puppy tomorrow. Mix of incredibly excited and terrified. (I am sure the puppy feels the same way)
Just applied for a graduate program. These otherwise uneventful educational milestones always felt like good opportunities to self-reflect, as a first generation college graduate.

If you have heard that "you need to learn python" as career advice but never really heard context behind it, I wrote a short article on what "you need to learn python" has meant to me thus far, a fellow python noob.

What “you need to learn python” has meant to me thus far - flaksec

As a cybersecurity professional, I often hear the phrase "you need to learn python" thrown around without much context or explanation as a piece of advice for people aspiring to join the field or people already in the cybersecurity field looking to level up their skills. Here is what has been behind the "you need to learn python" for me, thus far.

Also, since we are at it…

If you are an org, don’t try to sell the freebie you got from a vendor after purchasing a rather expensive tool as some training perk. That is just bare minimum and…. It looks so bad.

Here is the bottom line; Providing training should never be seen as a perk, but as a must in the infosec field.

Be skeptical of orgs that will not offer training to their employees in a consistent and free of charge way.
