My new joy is teaching my oldest about geocaching. We had a fun little hunt this morning at a state park.
Oh! And something actually infosec related! Today one of the analysts in my team finally got to publish their first two CVEs. We also got to function as the CNA for these assignments so there was a lot of learning through the whole process. You can read about the work here: https://open.substack.com/pub/blacklanternsecurity/p/cve-2023-3433-and-cve-2023-3434-jami?r=1cn8gh&utm_campaign=post&utm_medium=web

I’m also waiting anxiously for the results from #meadstampede this weekend. This is my first competition. I am looking forward to get some outside perspective on my creations. I am doing the “it’s okay if I only get a score of 17” mantra. #homebrew
Managed to get out to my local homebrew shop today. I’m going to get a set of fresh #meads brewing before the month is out. This will include a mango habanero brew and a Maine inspired acerglyn.
For the last week I’ve been growing my own SCOBY to do some #kombucha #homebrew. Today mark a the initial brew attempt with this first growth colony to make two gallons of booch.

Spent part of my weekend getting 3 #mead batches bottled. Ended up only being 2 because vinegar happens. But this is the first time in a bit I haven’t had an active batch either brewing or bulk aging.

Next on the list will be an acerglyn with Maine maple syrup and probably a hard lemonade.

I have found my "I'm just going to retire and start a farm" goal. When I'm done with cybersecurity I'm going to become a Maine Lobster Fisherman.
I’m up at DakotaCon this weekend and instead of taking training I get to help teach a course. It has been an absolutely rewarding experience to participate in the creation and execution of this process.

I think it’s important to talk also about hobbies as well as info sec stuff. That being said I am a hobbies homebrewer, specifically for #mead.

Yesterday I had a chance to start the second batch of my first self crafted recipe. It’s a oolong & mate combination tea base that produces a nice and very slight spiced flavor.

Going through the recipe creation process and making something “my own” has been very refreshing. It has been a reminder of the iterative design process.

Anyway - anyone else got a #hobby they enjoy outside of the tech space?

We've dropped a new #podcast episode! Check it out to hear us talk to one of our newer Red Team Operators on what it's like to land the role. We have an interesting conversation on getting started and hit on some other resources to check out to build your skill set.
