People need to stop saying "remove this device" will stop it accessing data in your #Microsoft account. (New emails, OneDrive files, etc).

All it does is stop showing the device in your account (assuming you are not using the device any more).

Google Account might be slightly easier to write about. I can see "verified" next to the phone number. One of the recent revisions?

I had ended up with 'If you see a “verify” link or button, then you have not verified your phone yet.' Not the ideal way to _reduce_ anxiety: "Check for this thing inside the tree of options. If you can't find it, it's probably fine." 😄

They're doing it! Google Account recovery by PIN (or pattern!)

TBF, this is still two-factor. Doubling down on "If you lose your phone, you can ask your carrier to transfer your phone number."

Might be pushing the edge a bit, for some? PIN = DOB = ouch!

Possibly what's bugging me, is an old page from when Google enabled 2-Step Verification *automatically* -

- and said you could get back in using your recovery email. I don't think that's how the current design works.

Someone is looking at user numbers, and they haven't gone down like they hoped.

(_Probably_ not including me in the numbers, because I also keep "latest Gmail" open, to get notifications.)
