There's a rash of these photoreal style transfer videos on youtube these days.

From the videos I've seen, aside from the usual bland and soulless AI look, it's interesting to see the sources of jank. The AI can't hallucinate data that isn't there. For example it'll happily turn cubemap reflections into uncanny valley photoreal ones -- the original error of the cubemap approximation gets blown up and magnified. Same goes for a lot of the animation.

If you're running "light mode" in Slack's redesign, the contrast between the channel names and background color is absolute garbage no matter what color you pick from the preselected palette.

One thing I've never liked about this diagram is it assumes there is an upward slope out of the "trough of disillusionment".

There's no guarantee that any of these AI bots become any good.
