I’m mostly on bsky these days.

Biggest positive takeaways from the line 2 opening:
- The Master planned development near stations (Overlake and Spring District) is genuinely good.
- The Spring District shallow station is awesome

Biggest negative takeaways:
- the at grade stuff -- intersections and pedestrian access -- is extremely bad
- Blows my mind how much parking is surrounding the stations.
- Using highway adjacent right-of-ways is a disaster for walkability

@rachael love that there’s no classification for what would make ranking “top two”. Time? Trips? Does the specific journey matter?

@malwaretech as others noted, large batches of dishes. I can usually do many and last a week— even salads. If i get sick of it, i can freeze it and switch. Freezing leftovers like soups and curries are great. I also freeze my bread pre-sliced.

Also there’s a lot of half prep you can do like traders joes fresh pizza dough. You can find a ton of similar things in stores. Eg garlic ginger paste in Indian stores. All of these can trim a lot of time.

The $930 million Move Seattle Levy was the most ambitious city transportation levy in the U.S. in 2015, but it also overpromised on what it could feasibly deliver for those dollars. The result is t…

Tolkien said it well:

“Always after a defeat and a respite, the Shadow takes another shape and grows again.’

‘I wish it need not have happened in my time,’ said Frodo.

‘So do I,’ said Gandalf, ‘and so do all who live to see such times. But that is not for them to decide. All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given us.”

I keep brooding on the way the xz backdoor was enabled in significant part via weaponizing the FOSS culture of shitty behavior and abuse.

Yes, there're other pathologies at work here (the big tech capitalist pillaging of the commons, etc).

But what is striking is that the uncool, mean standards of FOSS conduct that many of us have decried for years, & that many defended as authentic, tough, etc., ended up not just being exclusionary loser behavior, but a significant attack surface.

New achievement unlocked: I’ve just added 3 bike parking bollards to OSM! This is my first attempt to add a feature. I requested that someone review it, just because it’s my first time. The bollards are near the front door to Vincenzo’s, my favourite local independent food shop. My @CyclingGuide co-consprator @DavidTrueman does almost all of the edits that we make to OSM as part of our app work. Now I'm on my way to being a more active contributor!
