The point I'm after is not "selection events suck rocks" (especially when you're trying to live through one), but "we know about disease transmission now and can choose not to do it" (and I'm pretty sure we will be, if we're still here). Cities are an environment, agriculture is an environment, civil aviation is an environment. People shape their environment.
