A guy (he/him), obsessed with the DS/3DS and handheld game systems of nearly every kind. Too Many Handhelds on YouTube. BLM
I've been playing my Wonderswan a lot lately. This is an older photo, but I have a backlight mod and it's not a system people seem to post about much, but it's a great little system. The Tate mode aspect of it is really unique too.
@jake4480 I'm sorry to hear that you're dealing with that. I haven't had depression in a while but it can be pretty bad. I hope it passes eventually.
@jake4480 - Also the fact that they're preying on people who need things but can't afford them. People also use Klarna for things like Coachella tickets and Door Dash which they might not need. (Obviously everyone needs food, but hopefully they have access to it without Door Dash/fees).
@jake4480 @weston @rootcompute @Htbaa @rtw - I am on Bluesky more, but I do pop in here from time to time. As far as where to get official shells, I don't think you can anymore. Nintendo still sells batteries, but other than that they don't even repair most 3DS models anymore unfortunately. Some 3rd party shells can be as good as Nintendo's, but read the reviews because they tend to be hit and miss and vary in quality.

Yeah, I haven't been on here in a while but Anbernic is a pretty good brand with these, and last year they upgraded and refreshed their line in the spring so they might do the same thing for 2025. It's hard to recommend one without knowing what you want to play on it, but in general anything Anbernic with XX at the end of it's model name is pretty solid. You may have to supply your own games though, because these companies are avoiding Nintendo for legal reasons.

@jake4480 I'm surprised there isn't even like a new Thinkpad with a disc drive for business use cases or something like that.
I know I'm in the minority, but I would love a modern laptop with a built in DVD drive but they don't really make them anymore. External drives are fine, but it was so convenient to rip my old man plastic discs or watch a movie from a built in drive.
@jake4480 I haven't been making videos for a while. Unfortunately I got covid which turned into long Covid, but I'm getting better. I'm on Bluesky a lot more, but I should drop in here more because I do like Mastodon too. We really need something like old Twitter that everyone can go to. I've missed you too!
@jake4480 You can import subscriptions and it should pull it all in, but I've been using it with individual urls mostly.

@jake4480 - I've started using FreeTube, and it's awesome! It's a standalone YouTube client that lets you watch any video ad-free and I love it! I don't think the channels will get revenue like with the Fadblock one though.
