During the First World War, Tolkien specialised in making maps. The Gondor-Rohan-Mordor map in #LotR is the most military style of all of the maps in the book: it has contour lines!

In a branching-out from #calligraphy, I have started to re-discover Celtic #knotwork.

This book is a classic: I first came across it in the public library as a child. For a quite while later, a lot of my schoolwork was supplemented by knotwork in the margins.
