As if dystopia is somehow what we are steeped in: two reptiles, a lizard and a striper snek, have degloved themselves in the holes of my solo stove fire pit in the last two days. Decapitated the liz to put it out of its misery and ice + olive oil extracted the snek, with one lesion — she might not make it. Stowing the fire pit in the shed. So sorry.

This heat wave is absolutely bone crushing, and I'm so glad that I installed central air two years ago.

But if you are without central air, or you're dealing with a heat wave for the first time because it's reaching areas that don't historically get this hot, here are a few tips from my years of poverty in a desert:

@AnarchoNinaWrites there are no adults in the room. I'm convinced no adult wants to hold elected office. Its just the tryhard private school kids with no real grasp of everyday life now.

Overall, I think the Ray Tracer project is a good Rust "nuts and bolts" project. You have to write code spanning multiple files. There's refactoring and debugging. You have to translate some C++ specific idioms into Rust idioms. And you get to look at pretty pictures.

i’m trying to use bluesky again for a day or two, because I have some mutuals there that I miss from X. But I can barely function under the character limits. That is not a place for people who think in full sentences…
