@dabeaz Having a 70's King trombone could help with that...
@astronomerritt
Disturbing and uncanny...I suspect your academia background only helps with that...

Digital Scholar Donates $20,00...
I am enormously grateful for our colleagues at @digitalscholar and their commitment to open scholarly infrastructure -- both their own projects and the projects like Knowledge Commons that they help support. Nonprofit, community-oriented platforms are crucial to an open future for knowledge creation, sharing, and preservation, but many such platforms (ahem) are struggling in the current funding landscape. I hope that you'll consider supporting the free and open tools and services that you rely on, because those tools and services rely on you. @hello https://hcommons.social/@hello/116013075093039503

There are many research hosting services out there. Lots of them want to host your work in order to mine it for profit. Knowledge Commons wants to build a coalition of researchers, teachers, students, and more, in order to resist the authoritarian effort to undermine public access to knowledge. Please join us by visiting https://hcommons.org, creating an account, and sharing your work with the world. And if you like what you find and want to support our efforts, become a KC Champion! We are committed to our community and its work, and we hope you’ll share that commitment. https://about.hcommons.org/kc-champions
Knowledge Commons – Open access, open source, open to all

It is mid January and Christmas tree needles are still emerging from hiding to stab me in the toe.
@dabeaz I watched your video. I will take my chances with the table saw.
Just FYI: this is part of the damage being done by extractive AI companies. Their scraper bots routinely DDOS us, and they multiply to take up as much bandwidth as is available. We are having to put a huge percentage of our developers’ time into just keeping the site alive rather than building its future. They are actively destroying everything worthwhile about the internet. @hello https://hcommons.social/@hello/115854618561953712

We’re currently experiencing a widespread outage affecting access to Knowledge Commons, including KCWorks and all user sites. Our team is actively investigating and working to restore service as quickly as possible. Thanks for your patience, and we're sorry for the inconvenience.
