The entire Republican Party will still be a threat to democracy after the conviction of Donald Trump. We need to squarely face the threat and defeat it once and for all.

I expect the Department of Justice to take this criminal referral seriously and to charge Donald Trump and his co-conspirators accordingly. The voluminous evidence and testimony the #Jan6Committee has gathered should cement any indictments in stone.

Now that the Wall Street Journal has a poll out today confirming Trump's slide and the ascent of #DeSantis, this marks the beginning of the end for Trump politically. It doesn't, however, mark the end of Trumpist Fascism. #Trumpism is being rebranded and with DeSantis it allows Republicans to hide their Fascism behind a less chaotic and venal authoritarian and seem normal.

#KyrstenSinema is a narcissistic chaos agent and her defection pits Senate Democrats against the Arizona Democratic Party. If Senate Democrats withdraw their support, they lose her vote. Arizona Democrats made it clear where they stand and she'll get nothing from the state party. If we want to keep Senate control in 2024 without the Voting Rights Act we're gonna hafta figure this out.

It's no secret that I'm not a fan of Chuck Todd, but his obsequious interview of #MikePence underscores his uselessness as moderator of #MeetThePress. Pence cannot run for president as a Trump acolyte against Trump. It's ridiculous.

I'm a hard-core political junkie. Always have been. I also dabble in writing but only in non-fiction. I have no talent for drama or screenwriting. If I did I would write the screenplay for Kitty Kelley's "The Family." I've read or listened to the audiobook at least a dozen times. I'm a Democrat but the Bush Dynasty is endlessly fascinating. I believe the story is the American analog to The Crown, which I've thoroughly enjoyed. We need our version. George H. W. Bush's story would make good drama.

A single House race can have far-reaching consequences. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez defeated Joe Crowley, House Democrats Caucus Chairman, and heir apparent to Pelosi, which opened up the leadership to Jeffries. Two cycles later, he's on the cusp of becoming House Democratic Leader. Not bad for someone who ran three times before being elected to the New York State Assembly. In ten years Jeffries rose from the backbench to the top leadership of the House. Winning back the majority will not be easy.
