Go ahead and let trump put his name on whatever he wants. When he is gone we can make a monument of the torn down signs. Then we can have yearly pilgrimages and piss on the monument.

For the love of democracy the media in press briefings must start aggressively calling out this administration. Even if it results in them loosing access to the press room. The press room is a fucking joke - treat it as such. There is so much more to report that does not need access.

How can any real reporter platform Leavitt without calling bullshit to her face.

Incident Report: CVE-2024-YIKES

A series of unfortunate events.

Andrew Nesbitt

I use Facebook (Safari) because my wife likes to send me reels via messages (web only) Lately she will send me something and it will show a message available but when I click to open messages from her, there is nothing there. Tried logging in using a Firefox and the latest message was from 2024!

Tried logging in using chrome and it said my password was incorrect (I use a password manager)

I don't know how something can be so broken.

Rule of thumb: End-to-end encryption is meaningless unless you know and control exactly who the ends are. (Let’s call this the Waltz principle.)

Same goes unless the context your encrypted messenger is running in is secure. Signal can encrypt your messages all day long but you’re still screwed if the custom keyboard app you installed on your phone is sending them off to someone else before they even reach Signal. https://mas.to/@nemo/115977538504295603 https://mas.to/@nemo/115977538504295603

General reminder that I've developed multiple scales for sense of belonging on software teams specifically and every time they have been strong predictors for good team outcomes! If you want to use the open science lightweight versions of these on your teams I'm happy to grab a coffee.

(if you want to design a more complex project around that, Catharsis is taking calls out into March right now 🥰 )

Yet another piece of evidence that computer science and engineering *specifically* are getting this terribly wrong

I read everything @andrewnez writes, and I learn something every time.

This blogpost makes an astoundingly good case about LLMs I hadn't considered before. The collapse of public forums (like Stack Overflow) for programming answers coincides directly with the rise of programmers asking for answers from chatbots *directly*. Those debugging sessions become part of a training set that now *only private LLM corporations have access to*. This is something that "open models" seemingly can't easily fight. https://michiel.buddingh.eu/enclosure-feedback-loop
