Things to do this weekend besides shopping:

- manage your mind goblins
- nap for 1,000 years
- investigate Pi until you get to the weird stuff
- investigate pie
- read a book out loud in the forest. it may seem like no creatures are listening, but they are, and they appreciate it

They should have this at the Carols by Candlelight.

I don't like the idea of not knowing what to bring and I'm not a great cook. Plus, I'm in a misanthropic mood. I'd prefer a small gathering with people I already know (generally speaking). In summary, "bah, humbug!" - to large parties of strangers.
Invited to a Christmas potluck, but planning on not going. I went to a potluck with the same people on Sunday when I was still tired from the travelling and felt like I was like a piece of furniture (I was surprised one of them didn't try sitting on me).

This is called ‘Twenty Modern-Day Proverbs’.

The word ‘whore’ is etymologically related to ‘charity’, ‘to caress’, and ‘to cherish’, as well as Romance words such as French ‘cher’ and Spanish ‘caro’, which mean “dear”.

They all stem from a Proto-Indo-European word meaning “desired; loved”.

In the distant Germanic past of English, the meaning of the ancestor of ‘whore’ took some interesting turns.

Zoom in on my new graphic to discover the story of this word family.
