@SirThominickIV Yes, the shield blades are really thin, and the pegs inside are weak due to the layer lines. If I were to print it again, I would orient the gear parts 90° from the suggested printing position. Many parts broke during assembly and had to be reprinted.

@sjaveed Here's the model: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4741161It has really tight tolerances. I had to use sandpaper, files, knives and my Dremel to get everything to fit. And I used silicon lubricant on all the moving parts. The event horizon is not part of this model, but from a coaster that I scaled it up to pressure fit inside the ring: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3640070

This is a test of my own working Iris from stargate. At first I did not even consider to publish it, but after i published a video about it, i saw that there is a demand so here it is.The iris works, It fully closes and retracts.For the assembly, please take a look at this video where I describe the mechanism.https://youtu.be/IaxVJCigWIQI also uploaded step file of the whole assembly for those of you that need to tweak it little bit and i also added the blade with a thickness of 0,4mm
