This mechanism may also help to explain why social media deactivation experiments, which completely disconnect users from such content, produce political effects, unlike merely switching off the algorithm while keeping users active on the platform.”
Among users initially on a chronological feed, 7 weeks of exposure to X’s algorithmic feed in 2023 shifted political attitudes and account-following behaviour in a more conservative direction compared with those remaining on a chronological feed, whereas switching the feed setting in the opposite direction, from algorithmic to chronological, had no effect.
The best advice I have for new nerds: Refuse to pay rent.
Don't subscribe. Don't lease. Don't use their cloud. Don't slip down the freemium slope. Don't create accounts on their services.
Buy it once. Run it local. Avoid commercial software.
It'll be a huge pain and you'll be an outsider but it'll be endless, interesting, and hard fun that'll pay you back with a curious mind and an understanding of the fabric of our intellectual infrastructure that will make you light-years more capable, useful, and healthy than the "AI" zombies.

Tobias Kratzer unveils his world premiere production of “Monster's Paradise,” a satirical opera lampooning U.S. President Donald Trump. The opera, with a libretto by Olga Neuwirth and Elfriede Jelinek, features a gluttonous character called The President-King. Kratzer expressed disbelief at how the satire mirrors reality. The production, inspired by Alfred Jarry’s “Ubu Roi,” includes chorus members dressed as zombies and a Las Vegas-style opening. The President-King, portrayed by Georg Nigl, is opposed by a monster named Gorgonzilla. The opera ends with a humorous yet critical portrayal of power.

One was describing in high detail about how the “police“ came -in his dream- dragged him out of the house, and were “mean” to him.
As adults, we can’t process this trauma very well: don’t expose your young children to it
