For beginners, it can be difficult to know what to put in alt text, as well as when alt text is needed and when it isn't. This decision tree from the W3C helps you determine what to do, based on specific situations.

You don't necessarily want to use the exact same alt text each time a specific image is used. Alt text must consider the context of the image and why it's being included on a site, post, article, etc. In other words, alt text depends on where you're including the image and why.
I don’t take photos or videos for social media; I take them to look back on. From time to time, I’ll scroll through what I’ve captured, nudge my husband and say, "Do you remember this?" and we’ll laugh about moments we’d otherwise have forgotten. 😊

I used to write a private "year in review" for myself annually, but a few years ago, that reflection became a nightly habit of writing a handful of sentences to summarise the day before bed. This year, after picking up some basic video editing skills through Falmouth University, I decided to try my hand at a visual recap of 2025. πŸŽ₯

What surprised me most was just how much didn’t make it into this video.

From meeting Ameca and the incredible people at Engineered Arts who bring her to life, to meeting young people through Tech Cornwall’s Mission to Mars programme; attending Cornwall Slush'D; meeting the inspiring women who run TECwomen CIC and TECgirls; seeing my university colleagues showcase their work at the Falmouth Art Gallery; and attending my first Bristol Bot Builders Ant Weight social, the year was full of moments worth remembering. πŸ€–β€οΈ

The Dark Cornwall events have been, without a doubt, fantastic. It has been truly wonderful to see so much Cornish pride and being able to find the time to break away from the intensity of University to enjoy my home and heritage. 😊🏑

Beyond events and milestones, we did find time for quieter moments together. Daniel and I take great joy in long walks through the Cornish countryside, sitting together with a coffee and a good book, and small dates like strawberry picking, which was a first for us both this year and a childhood dream of mine. πŸ“β˜•

Looking back, it’s no surprise that I spent much of the Christmas break curled up on the sofa, catching up on sleep. πŸ˜†

2025 was challenging, demanding, and at times exhausting, but it was also unbelievably rewarding. I’m grateful for the opportunities, the learning, and the people who made it such a full year. This short video doesn’t capture everything, but it does reflect the pace, the growth, and the overall feeling of the year, and for that, it feels like a fitting recap. βœ¨πŸ’–
The Sunday morning alarm clock has sounded. Time to dawn, I guess.

There is nothing more devastating than throwing your entire mug of coffee over your own desk. 😩 #sendhelp
Strawberry picking is something I’ve wanted to do for as long as I can remember. πŸ“

Growing up, my parents would always say, β€œmaybe next summer,” but somehow, we never quite got around to it.

Well, I’m 30 now, and I finally went! I can’t even begin to describe how excited I was, clutching my little punnet and wandering through the rows, hunting down the ripest, juiciest strawberries. πŸ“ 🧺
I’m honestly impressed I didn't devour them right there and then in the poly tunnel! πŸ˜‚πŸ™ˆ
