@dfgomes @daringfireball Apple had tons of Chinese standing in line at the Fifth Avenue Apple Store on release day of a new iPhone, ready to ship them back home. Lowering prices just means those phones will be bought by scalpers and shipped to higher income countries. Apple would have to lock those models to the language of that market, like Nintendo does with the Switch 2 in Japan, that only supports Japanese and is sold at 2020- prices instead of 2025-prices ;)

@daringfireball The Ray-Ban Display model is only available in the US at the moment, I guess the increase in production is meant for the other countries it launches in later this year. As you wrote in your later post, they haven’t yet run out of countries to launch in yet ;)

@ac @daringfireball Kicking Fortnite out and revoking Epic Games‘ developer cycle was going to lead to a world of pain for Apple, strengthening the critics of AppStore fees. BUT: They actively undermined Apple‘s business modell (!!!) with the move and Apple couldn’t let that stand.
This, otoh, is just a rule violation and enforcing it would lead to another world of pain for Apple, but now with ppl in high places that will complain loudly about Apple silencing conservative voices, bla bla…

@daringfireball Blaming FaceTime for communication between terrorists are big words, coming from the state that has been recruiting throw-away agents to conduct subversive actions to generate civil unrest in other countries for decades.

@daringfireball Not annoyed by the transparency, just enraged that every single action now takes one click more, since Apple decided to hide all the actions available earlier in a menu.

@marcoarment Smartphones do AI but this thing won‘t do games and video-based distraction (aka Tiktok), so how do they expect the masses to use this thing? Using both is a waste of money and when using only one, the smartphone always wins. This only caters to the AI Pin etc. crowd, but they‘ll soon realize that their dependancy on mail and tiktok can’t be solved by a thing that can‘t do both - they‘ll still have to work through their 1000 work-mails, just on another device…

@Chancerubbage @marcoarment Nah, investors will pump so much money into OpenAI that they‘ll be able to buy an ISP of their choice (in each country) and add an internet connection to this hardware.
