In 2015, I had to leave this book (among many others) behind in Egypt as I left rather hastily to avoid some nasty attention from local security services. I’m so so happy to have it back. 😊
We used to sit up on the rooftop near the pyramids and do “readings” in our best #CarlSagan voice. Might have to start that up again.
I know there are a lot of folks in here who are anti-Elon. And I get that. But how do we deal with the fact that space is happening one way or another. And the impact is likely to wildly exacerbate things like wealth inequality if we resign ourselves to the self fulfilling prophecy that space is only for states and billionaires. That attitude just lets them have it. We need space to be a political issue now. Not wait half a century and then try to fight even more entrenched interests.

Our future in #space being dominated by established interests is a self fulfilling prophecy we must break. If we want it to actually be for everyone, we need better policy and international agreements. But that's only going to happen if we make it a political issue and actually apply pressure. Let's not wait like we did with climate.
Question for all the #journalists and #journalism students out there. To what extent do you consider yourself an advocate? I know there are different schools of thought.
