Watched Superman!

I've never been too big a fan. I've liked the potential more than any of the executions in the past. This one was probably the one I enjoyed the most, though!

There were a couple of genuinely emotional moments that I liked a lot. I left with a smile.

The characterization felt a little unfocused, though. Lots of characters that were just there, and lots of their threads went nowhere. I felt uncomfortable with the Jimmy stuff. Given the screen time Lois had, I wish she'd have been developed with a little more nuance, complex motivations, and at least one or two of her own dilemmas.

I did really like that Superman felt more relatable as an actual person instead of just a nebulous idea. It made the admirable traits you would expect from him feel more genuine.

Camera work, sound, and effects were really strong, and let you feel the scale and power behind Superman's actions.

I feel like taking Krypto anywhere at all was highly irresponsible, though. XD

We just lost one of the most talented people on our team because apparently people from China are all security risks now.

Besides being problematic for a number of reasons... we work on software for farmers. What is he going to do? Steal the secrets of growing too much corn?

I'm getting a little distressed by of how often someone messages me with an AI-written message. Even from family members.

I get that communication is hard. However, I'm very detail oriented. I see the world through details, and that's how I know it. So, context, how someone organizes their thoughts, the texture of the vocabulary... this is how I get to know people.

This is also how I can tell very quickly that someone is using AI, because I know their old vocab, rhythm, and mental organization.

I can't get to know someone if I'm only hearing their message second hand through ChatGPT.

This meme just feels like the Fediverse personified.

Day 1688
I found a bean!

I can't get over this sentence no matter how often I read it.

"Women showed no effects when told they were masculine; however, men given feedback suggesting they were feminine expressed more support for war, homophobic attitudes, and interest in purchasing an SUV."

Lookit these babies

Edit: because this got a lot of attention, I'm adding this to say check the replies for cheetah facts and conservation info if you're interested!

Well, this is... interesting. Current readings around Chernobyl. I have absolutely no idea what this means, but apparently Chernobyl is way more radioactive now?

Yay! I finished learning the notes for my first guitar song!

I'm not *good* at it yet, but I can get the right sounds out of the guitar now!

Got to keep going till it's all automatic. Now that I've learned the notes, I need to work on forgetting them. :D
