The main issue is the Arena client, yes. It's frustratingly hard to get the info out of it, and you have to check text fields for errors or <tags> they use internally.

When Arena-only cards are previewed, WotC doesn't tell us the flavor text, and it's not shown on the card image, so at best we have to wait for the next Arena update and just hope we're still able to sync it each time. The Arena client doesn't provide any kind of clean export/API

We do not receive any additional data from WotC, we only know what's previewed and what gets put on Gatherer / the Companion app
