This site had a traditional Chinese tower(楼） since the 1400s. But the original building was destroyed and it’s been rebuilt several times. In 2009, the city decided to redevelop it from a 1970s rebuilt. It is now build in traditional style but with copper. I found this super cool. Here is a Chinese website explaining its history a bit.
