Ode to Sorrow--Beethoven
Slump--Van Halen

@kagan @JulietEMcKenna @marthawells Frankly I don’t understand the hostility in this piece—the Hero’s Journey is a framework, not a commandment on how to write stories. There’s no reason, for example, why a female hero can’t follow (or subvert) a Hero’s Journey pattern. It’s only a pattern, not a commandment.

Furthermore, the author makes some pretty wild assumptions about Greek culture when compared to Eastern cultures without evidence. Read w/🧂

I don't know if this commercial is too recent, but check this Planet Lunch spot out

Something about how the 'Planet Lunch Ambassador' moves fascinated me as a kid, and kind of still does to this day.

It really does make shockingly good commercial music--I must have watched that Caronia video dozens of times. It's such an earworm 😂😂

Thanks for sharing your insight!!

@Vidyala

Not war, but people making really stupid, selfish decisions in very toxic environments.

Imagine Jurassic Park but with ethno-nationalism instead of dinosaurs ahahaha

Those happen to me too. They're a great sign. It's the literary version of tasting something you made and being shocked at how delicious it came out.

If you're having that reaction, get that plot bit in your book before you forget!!

@Vidyala So like Kiki's Delivery Service but in book form? That sounds quite nice actually.

I also write fantasy, but definitely not cozy ahahaha

@Vidyala

Hi Stacy welcome to Mastodon :D

I've heard this "cozy" term but I"m not familiar with it. What makes fantasy cozy?

@jillrhudy

Each one of the storylines has one that's a cut above the rest. Besides Wyrd Sisters I'm also particular to Mort, Pyramids, and Sourcery.

Whatever the book, Discworld is far and away one of the best fantasy worlds out there
