I suppose any Sicilians present would have been mortally offended by me making the spaccatelle too short, and eating them with the entirely wrong kind of sauce. But it was the first solid food I dared to eat after a jaw surgery and I couldn't have managed longer noodles yet, and it was fun to make noodles from scratch and improvise a sauce from whatever I found in my fridge to be made in the new small pan that had just arrived.
