So I had to upgrade this instance from 1GB to 2GB.

Why? Because a post went viral back in November, and it hasn't stopped.

Each time it gets boosted, there's a hit to my VPS's performance.

I've now made peace with the fact that my dream of a $5 instance is done.

But that's just for me -- I have a bad habit of saying stuff that gets boosted.

It's obvious that, on the Fediverse, you're going to need to pay for your popularity.

Not a complaint. This is how the Internet works.

But now we have to ask ourselves, "How do prevent a post/instance from getting to popular?"

After all, popularity affects cost.
