Manufacturers must provide repair parts, embedded software, and documentation.
Failing to provide repair resources will be considered a deceptive trade practice. "Any new contractual provision or other arrangement that a manufacturer enters into that would remove or limit the manufacturer's obligation to provide resources to independent repair providers and owners is void and unenforceable"

What's the story with the naming of Eschscholzia? Like, there must be a story, right? Why two sch's? E-sch-sch-olzia?

Bed Bath & Beyond has filed for bankruptcy shortly after spending $1B in stock buybacks & cash payments to shareholders. Employees of 20 years got 0 notice & $0 severance.

It wasn't inflation. It wasn't labor cost. It is 100% corporate greed.

Tax billionaires. Unionize workers. Protect our economy.

BREAKING: North Dakota’s Republican Gov. Doug Burgum has signed into law a ban on abortion at six weeks of pregnancy — even in cases of rape or incest. It's among the strictest abortion bans in the U.S. and takes effect immediately. https://apnews.com/article/abortion-north-dakota-six-week-ban-2bccde2925d30dd4772aaed84f3c2d98?taid=6446fdd370da020001a60ab5&utm_campaign=TrueAnthem&utm_medium=AP&utm_source…

North Dakota governor signs law banning nearly all abortions

North Dakota on Monday adopted one of the strictest anti-abortion laws in the country as Republican Gov. Doug Burgum signed legislation banning the procedure throughout pregnancy, with slim exceptions up to six weeks’ gestation.

“Their calculation is the same as it was for Jews in the 1930s: It doesn’t matter if we end up in a homeless shelter far away, it is still safer than living under this fascist government.”

The End of Trans America Comes Into Focus

The laws proposed around the country by Republicans would make life for transgender people functionally impossible. The danger is in being under-wrought, not overwrought.

The heat across most of Asia for April is insanely hot. The severity of climate change is being witnessed today- not 20-30 years into the future. Action on climate adaptation and mitigation is urgent.
I’m realizing that growing up as a wired magazine-reading cyberpunk believer— a kid who thought adbusters and the internet could save the world— and then watching as every technological miracle was turned not towards revolution or saving humanity but instead more pernicious and intractable methods of exploitation has made me uncomfortable with technological optimism. “assume all new technology will be used against you” —

A committee found that Priyanga Amarasekare broke rules after she alleged discrimination by colleagues. It recommended light sanctions — but the university chancellor issued stronger ones.

"Priyanga is not a warm, fuzzy person, and she does not suffer fools” Might you ever wonder why scientists or faculty of colour are not the warmest or fuzziest?! Fitting in on the terms of the old boys does not nurture warmth. I have so so welcomed the diversity of my younger colleagues and often wished that I could do it all over again. Never being asked about my education, my accent, even my freaking religion. Amarasekare is brilliant .
