Very pleased to have released a difficult framework upgrade today.

It's been a bumpy journey, but proud to have pushed through, and finally got it released.

On a Friday.

What could go wrong?...

Brilliant final day of the Manchester Tech Festival. Loved the talks today, especially Synthetic Monitoring by @carlylrichmond and Controlling cloud costs by Harry Reeder

Thanks Manchester Tech Festival for an amazing week of events!

Absolutely brilliant talk by Parul Singh Parul Singh on "why I'm not talking about imposter syndrome anymore". Very emotional and reminded me that it's so important for everyone to be an ally at work for those who aren't from a privileged background.

Very cool venue for the 3rd day of the Manchester Tech Festival #mtf2023

Looking forward to another great day of talks from the Manchester tech community. So far it's been inspiring and great fun.

Enjoyed day 2 of the Manchester Tech Festival. Lots of good takeaways.

Brilliant talk again by @friendlytester

"Testers don't break software, they find and highlight problems" and "Developers are testing all the time"

Other great quotes from the day:

"The perception of you really has a big impact."

"Be ready for your founding team to fall out."

"If you don't fight for yourself, no one else will."

I used to think that gaming improves reflexes and reactions but thinking back on it and reflecting, I think the biggest impact gaming has on people is it trains your brain on how to deal with failure.

You fail in a game and that's not the end. You learn to pick yourself up, dust yourself down and get back to it. Having that skill in life is incredibly beneficial because you're going to fail, and if you can pick yourself up, learn from what happened and keep going, then you're going to succeed.

I've been playing around with NextJS and Next-Auth and it really makes authentication really simple. I got a working login form using Sign-in as Google authentication done in about 30 minutes. The tricky part was working out how to use it correctly with the newer NextJS App Router.

Best part is it's using a JSON Web Token (JWT) so as long as I've got the same secret in another app, I can decode that and use the same authentication token in the cookie for the other app. Both apps are secure

Really enjoyed working on the second company sprint. We've built a demonstration app in a single week from scratch alongside other teams working on marketing, brand, sales, operations and more!

I ran weekly morning round-up meetings to talk about the work done by each team in the previous day and it was inspiring to see the results of everyone's hard work each day.3r

Running these company wide sprints is hard work, but the results really show what can be achieved in a short time

After the success of the previous company sprint, we're giving it another go, this time with a twist. Everyone's going to be working on 1 new product but with teams based on areas of expertise. It's going to be a different challenge of keeping everyone communicating and collaborating whilst keeping room for creativity and thinking time to flow, but already I'm feeling a buzz from everyone I've spoken to.

Saying no to anyone is really difficult especially when I see my job as being there to help people but you can't help anyone if you're trying to help everyone.
