Tis the season of pupillage applications.

I knew no practising barristers when I started law school, fortunately a handful of barristers I met kindly looked over my applications and gave me advice.

My inbox is open to pay that advice forward.

Every year I try to help a handful of applicants. My offer is open to all, but I am personally best placed to help:

- those interested in crime or animal protection;
- neurodiverse applicants (esp ADHD);
- vegans;
- career changers

I see companion animal abduction and the new proposed “taking of pets” (actually limited to taking of dogs) offence is in the news again.

Here's why I fear this may be empty sandwich legislation: https://barristermagazine.com/all-bark-no-bite-will-a-new-offence-reduce-companion-animal-abduction/

To be clear, I am certainly not saying that we “should not bother” about companion animal abductions. I’m just more interested in biting down on the problem rather than promoting faux-tough-on-crime vanity legislation whilst barking about locking more people up for longer.

New here…

I’m a junior criminal barrister specialising in crime and animal protection, especially defending allegedly dangerous dogs.

I was the first barrister to invent plant-based wigs, made from hemp.

Currently fostering two rescue #dogs

Looking to connect with other #legaltwitter castaways and #vegan and #animalrights people.
