When I put away Christmas lights at the end of the season, I like to just wad them up. That way, when I pull them back out after Halloween, the November version of me can feel superior to the January version of me, and congratulate himself on all his personal growth throughout the year!

There are two problems in computer science:

1) Naming things
2) How do you get two objects that really shouldn't know about each other to share data?
3) Off-by-one errors

Now that I have my first iPad with cellular, I understand why so many people have been begging for cellular Macs for years.

Having native cellular support is soooooo much better than tethering. It's faster, doesn't kill your phone battery, more reliable, etc.

Wow, it's great.

@caseyliss I'd been hoping for a long time that Xcode would become slower and less stable, so the Coding Assistant is just what I've been looking for!
@ilikepi @siracusa So, so weird! For a while I was suspicious of the situation and spent hours trying to figure out how this sort of thing could be an attack vector, and I never came up with much that made sense. It's also gone on so long and been so consistent that a scam wouldn't make sense anymore. For a while I suspected some friends of pranking me, but again, it has exceeded their attention spans. If it is them, though, I salute their commitment!

@Waustin @siracusa Nah, I've kinda developed a soft spot for him, and I don't wish him ill at all.

Nowadays it feels more like awkwardly overhearing conversations in public, so I just politely ignore things and unsubscribe/opt-out when there's an option to do so.

@siracusa There's one guy from Brooklyn (currently living in Virginia) who has been misusing my Gmail account since about 2007. My theory is it got into his auto-complete prefs and keeps coming up. I have learned a disturbing amount about him. At one point I had his home address from a grocery receipt (he's gluten intolerant), and I considered mailing him to ask him to stop, but somehow that just seemed weird. He's since moved, and I don't have the new one (yet!)
Perhaps the *real* opportunity with Generative AI is for businesses who take advantage while all their competitors are distracted, and solve an actual problem with a solution that actually works and can be sold for actual profit.
@caseyliss “That’s fine, you’re a computer! You got something else to do?! So take an UNreasonable amount of time! Because one of us is gonna get unreasonable here in a sec, and I don’t think you want it to be me!”
