There is a confusing paradigm that's been adopted by clothing brands, though maybe it makes sense once I describe it.

Affordable fashion brands have more efficient websites, while more expensive brands do their best to push you away. The "aura" of exclusivity bleeds into the website, resulting in difficult-to-browse catalogs. They punish user interest.

It's confusing (why wouldn't they want my money?) but also makes sense, in a way.

This Black Friday, 2022, consumer spent a record $9.12 billion, which is 2% more than 2021.
News outlets are pointing to this as "consumers' willingness to spend despite a recession," but I have to wonder if things are just more expensive now.
Just submitted a book proposal.
1) BlockFi filing for bankruptcy.
2) Their VP of Engineering made $430k base salary this year (public because he’s on H1B).
I wouldn’t begrudge a person for getting paid well, but perhaps these facts are somewhat correlated.
