Welcome to the Season of Family Tech Support to those who celebrate.

I found a new one today. I was doing the usual minor cleanup with a relative and I notice a constant stream of pop-up notifications going on. You know how every bloody website now pops up a “would you like notifications from us" window? Turns out that in order to make that window go away this relative was just clicking the convenient OK button, and since we're also now in the Season of Desperate Capitalism every one of the websites they'd visited in the last six months was sending them constant “buy our garbage" notifications.

So yeah, that's something to add to your list to check this year.

Every read of a Pratchett novel finds new delights of subtle humor. Today was Death trying to get the Hogfather’s boars to move by calling “Pig Hooooey” at them. I missed that the last time.

Went to the polling place. Over 100 people in line. I can't remember there being more than 5 in previous years.
It always seems completely bonkers to me that it's totally routine for public performers of the National Anthem in this country get creative with the tune.
We resell a certain vendor's products. There are two variants of one of their products, Variant A sells for $100, and Variant B, which is an enhanced version of Variant A with more capabilities, sells for $150. I am, for lack of a better phrasing, product owner within our company for the vendor's products.
Just got an email from one of the sales teams: "customer wants Variant B, but only wants to pay Variant A price. How can we make this work?"
Dude, I too would like to get a Big Mac for the price of a Happy Meal, but the world doesn't work that way.
