What is the least interesting thing I could post that would get me banned here?
Obviously current political events would knock me out. A comparison of screw thread sizes would be in-bounds. [https://www.engineersedge.com/screw_threads_chart.htm] The best method of splicing low-voltage wires might do it. [https://diy.stackexchange.com/questions/55418/best-way-to-splice-together-20-22-gauge-wiring] Would Naked Limbo (NSFW…don’t click) get me tossed? [https://www.xvideos.com/?k=naked+limbo]
Request: disable giffs in thumbnails
I generally browse by “Hot” or “top x hours”. I like seeing newer posts that rise and that’s what makes me happy. The problem is that there are some rare posts that show a distracting animation in the thumbnail as I browse and it is never something I want to see but it distracts from my browsing. (I use compact thumbnails as my preference). I there a way to disable playing animations in the thumbnail image?
Sort choice is always stale
I usually view my Lemmy instance by “All-Hot” because that seems to have the most relevant unread content. I sometimes filter by “top hour or 6 hours”. When I leave and come back to voyager the feed is filled with old, stale content on initial load. If I go back to communities and reload “all” I then get a refreshed feed. Why doesn’t it default to the latest “hot” posts when I load it?
I do not think this is true.

Put the squirrel trap out again
We are forever infested with squirrels here. They cavort on our roof and patio cover (making such a racket), they chew on our wood siding making holes or at least gaps for rats, they chew the lead boots on our plumbing vents causing leaks. They cannibalize our lawn furniture cushions for their nests. Squirrels are bad! Last year I employed a tube trap affixed to a fence leading up to my garage and cleared out about 20 tree rats in about 2 weeks. Life was good for a while but they are back and today I redeployed the trap and within 3 hours I had my first customer. I wonder how many I can get this time around. I have self-imposed 2-week limit on my efforts because I will never be done if I don’t set a limit. I know I will never win the squirrel war but I will win the short term battle.
Just clicked in because...
I’ve been a follower of the other (dull_men) sub and, of course have hit the dull.men forum at (yuck). I even watched James May try his hand at being uninteresting on TV. I have come to the conclusion that I am so dull that I have nothing interesting to contribute. This is my legacy and I know that this cements my place here.
Ceiling fan for heating and the Mrs.
I have ceiling fans that I run (on slow) clockwise when it’s cold. I can clearly feel the mixing of upper level (warm) air into my environment which is comfortable but my wife thinks any moving air is cold air and hates it. I think I need to position multiple temp sensors at various heights and locations to prove my point but my concern is that if I have empirical evidence to back my supposition it will be poorly received because, of course, I’m over-thinking it. Thoughts?
How to kick off vacation right
Started to watch that new James May series
