This is good news!

The scientists behind the new independent organization Climate.us are the same experts Trump fired because they were researching and reporting on climate change.

Formerly NOAA’s http://Climate.gov, they didn’t disappear. They rebuilt.

Now they’re independent and preserving climate data, outside of political interference, with public support and a team of volunteer scientists.

May we all strive to live a life more like Om’s, and inspire anything close to this kind of eulogy when we go.

Om

This is going to sound cornier than a bucket of Jiffy-Pop, but it is a profound irony that a man with such a big and beautiful figurative heart could have such a lousy literal one.

motion to stop people from deleting "insufficiently notable" pages from wikipedia. Text storage is cheap; let niche interests be catalogued like anything else.

Alright, lets start with the problems:

People want to watch television.

Modern televisions spy on you, screenshot what you're watching and phone home with it, and use your home internet connection to proxy other people's traffic.

The modern settop box ecosystem is dominated by google, apple, amazon, and roku.

Roku is being acquired by Fox.

Google, Apple, and Amazon are owned by billionaires who are perfectly happy to bend their knee to fascists, and their products also spy on you.

This is prime time for a good, open source, community focused set top box alternative.

"What makes this breach structurally significant is not just the volume of documents exposed, but the mechanism of exposure: a company collecting identity verification data—ostensibly for legitimate age-gating purposes—stored that data in a way that treated security as optional. No authentication layer. No rate limiting. No encryption. Just raw identity documents, URL-accessible to the entire internet."

Nearly a million passports just exposed on the public internet—and anyone could access them with a simple URL

Nearly one million passports and driver's licenses from multiple countries were left unprotected online with zero password protection. Here's what happened.

"A database of a million passports from around the world was leaked online.

Note what happened. A high-value credential—a passport—was used in an ancillary low-value authentication system: ID verification for cannabis dispensaries. And it’s the low-value system that got hacked, putting the high-value credential at risk."

If you think this sounds like the story of Social Security Numbers in the US, you'd be spot on.

Turns out all those crazy hippies who said that CCS was a chimera dreamed up by fossil fuel interests to blunt the urgency of phasing out fossil fuels were right all along! Nothing more irritating than a bunch of hippies who keep turning out to be correct about things, amirite?!
Oi @mullvadnet, you don't get to do that shit with money that I gave you, money my friends gave you, money I recommended my customers give you, no more money for you, there are a thousand other VPNs and I can find a new one in a couple of minutes, and thank fuck the other random bloke who I just chewed out for having the same name as you was an inactive account

As usual, a woman doing all the work that men should be doing.

(Note she's only worth $30b, just to put into perspective how little the men are doing, especially the ones who pledged to give half their fortunes away.)
