I think I prefer mastodon for a few main reasons. I like the fact that the feeds aren't manipulated by an algorithm, so we dont end up in echo chambers. I also like that it wasn't funded by venture capital, which will eventually need to be paid back by monetizing us. Finally, if the admins of this server do something we don't like, we can just make our own, and all of our connections will follow us there, even if we end up spread out over different servers.
