@Sapphicgiraffic @archer honestly for what it's worth your readiness to take accountability pretty much changed my mind on leaving.

We all make mistakes and whereas I feel a lot of mods might get defensive and find any excuse to pass the buck you were pretty honest and open and I appreciate that.

All I ever personally want out of folks is a genuine willingness to learn and do better and you certainly seem to fit the bill.

And it's honestly okay. It's been a long time custom that roma people lie about being other ethnicities because we are acutely aware of how rampant antiziganism can be, especially in europe where it's practically socially acceptable.

It's why I'm usually happy to talk about it. I gave up the tradition of hiding a long time ago.

@metro Yep. Usually the retelling goes 'jews, lgbtq+ and other groups'.

'other groups' is a funny way to collectively refer to exterminating between 25 and 50% of all Romani people, estimated about half a million in total but sure, other groups.

i've even seen like pictures of the concentration camp patches where ours just aren't on the display at all.

it's gut wrenching tbh.
