my local temple livestreams their Shabbat services over youtube each week, but there is a Zoom meeting you can join during and/or after to sort of like... be more concretely part of the congregation audience?

and i wanna start joining them, but i get Nervous bc i'm new and it's been holiday after holiday lately and i'm just learning about them all, so i feel like idk how to properly participate yet and should just watch. fkfjfk

@richie hey! Welcome to the club. 👋🏻

I just wanted to throw it out there that you should be hitting a lull soon if you feel stuff is coming at you too fast. There's usually a bit of a break before Chanukah, I hope that information helps a bit and perhaps suggests a window for easier participation.

Fall is like rapid fire holiday season 😅

@roshollow ah, ty!! 😊

yeah, so i've heard. haha

Sept and Oct are like the Holiday of the Week section of the year, and it's a lot less concentrated the rest of the time. at least as far as Big holidays go.

but yeah, i'm also starting online classes on the 27th! so i'll be able to feel more involved in a slower-paced situation soon haha.

and i figure Rabbi M would encourage me to join the Shabbat Zoom meetings anyways, but i'm just skittish sometimes.

@richie it's okay, I'm the same way. I grew up with pretty loose traditions in my own home so I was like always concerned that people wouldn't see me as being somehow serious but in my experience, those kind of circles are very welcoming regardless

@roshollow i actually grew up in an EXTREMELY christian household and fell out of faith when i was a teenager.

i'm entirely new to Judaism, but i've been doing a lot of research and feel extremely drawn to it.

and i found a Reform Jewish temple that fits a lot of what i'm all about. i feel rly excited to get more involved, even if i have to take it slow at first. haha :'-)
