Eeyore normcore environmentalist. Not the boss of you. Minneapolis, MN

City is actively destroying a camp at 26th St E and Clinton Ave S despite multiple people, including a city council member, asking for just a day's delay.

Help requested by people there for assistance relocating.

WTF, Walgreens is closing the pharmacy on Broadway?

A trans woman was violently attacked at a #Minneapolis light rail station on Monday. Trans 🏳️‍⚧️ people are under attack in our allegedly progressive city, in our allegedly progressive state. Every red state is passing anti trans legislation.

Cis people, you better get on board to protect trans folks here. Rep Finke is fighting hard to pass the Trans Refuge bill right now. Contact your rep and senator and tell them you support Rep Finke’s bill.

Today is Elijah McClain's birthday.

Musician, animal lover, vegan, massage therapist, autistic Elijah was murdered by Aurora CO police and EMTs on 08/30/2019.

Please celebrate Elijah's life by sharing.

Today's #megafauna is the giant barrel sponge. These #animals of the Caribbean coral reefs reach at least 6 feet in diameter and live for thousands of years. Their bowl-like shape acts as a habitat for more mobile animals such as crabs and fish.

Sponges may be the first animal family to have evolved, and as a result, they are very simple. Sponge cells are not specialized, which means that each individual cell can do the work of any part of the sponge's body. Even after serious damage--such as being run through a blender--sponges can re-constitute themselves.

Sponges also use the same filtration method to interact with the water column in multiple ways. They filter to feed, to breathe, and to mate. Giant barrel sponges are hermaphroditic, releasing clouds of sperm and filtering out other individuals' sperm with which to fertilize their eggs.

As reef residents, these sponges are threatened by increases in the ocean's temperature and acidity, which harm the fragile coral on which reef communities are built.

Update on the #minneapolis Consent Decree negotiations with the state. (Slow, very slow.)

The Department of Human Rights report is embedded in the story. If you haven’t yet, take time to read about the documented horrors attributed to the MPD. And yet! We gave them more money!

Slow but 'fruitful' negotiations continue in state consent decree of MPD

My white child is not uncomfortable with learning about racial injustice or history because he's not hearing about most of it for the first time in school. He has the same empathy, sadness, and some of the anger at injustice everyone should have when they learn these things.

We also never had to explain to him that gay people or trans people exist because he observes the world for himself and sees them in it.

It's telling lies to children that harms them
