Sort of a messy term. Was super busy, and even made some headway, but not really sure how to account for it. Maybe stretched in too many directions. Anyway: now looking to plan out next term in a more structured way. As always, a new journal should help ….🤞
Call for papers is now out from Social Science History Association. And: the Crime, Justice and Law network welcomes submissions! Submission deadline is March 2023, conference in November. Call for papers (or panels) linked here.

yesterday I re-read one of my favourite papers after over 15 years; absolutely brilliant piece by Stanley Fish on “Dennis Martinez and the Uses of Theory.” It had a huge effect on my own thinking when I first read it (before then!) in grad school. Superb to read it again (and yes I know some will disagree vehemently). Very close connections with Bourdieusian work too, despite some wayward comments elsewhere.
in other news, just really nice to see this, especially after an exhausting week. super thankful to all the students in these courses over the years! (and who bear with me during them). Thanks to @uoft .
It’s a wrap! Superb conference #SSHA2022 . And thrilled to have presented a paper from this new project on collective memory and jurists (and archivists and historians). Too early to be thinking about 2023 yet?
“Republicans have sought to blame Mr. Krasner for a surge of gun violence in Philadelphia over the past few years, a trend that was common in cities across the United States during the coronavirus pandemic, including those w/ more traditional prosecutors.”

Pennsylvania House Votes to Impeach Philadelphia’s Progressive D.A.

Republican lawmakers blame Larry Krasner’s policies for a surge in gun violence. The State Senate, whose session ends this month, will have to determine whether and how to hold a trial.
