because the macbook neo has an A18 Pro SoC & 8GB of RAM in it, apple should let me plug an iPhone Pro with the A19 Pro SoC and 12GB of RAM into a USB-C/Thunderbolt monitor and use it as a Mac - charge me a $200 Mac enablement fee if you have to

Why are QR Codes with capital letters smaller than QR codes with lower-case letters?

Take a look at these two QR codes. Scan them if you like, I promise there's nothing dodgy in them.     Left is upper-case HTTPS://EDENT.TEL/ and right is lower-case https://edent.tel/ You can clearly see that the one on the left is a "smaller" QR as it has fewer bits of data in it. Both go to the same URl, the only difference is the casing. What's going on? Your first thought might be th…

@gedeonm I don’t know yet if it will replace Feeeed as my primary social consolidation tool, but Tapestry’s an interesting start. It deserves to grow an audience.
I didn’t enjoy Amazon Prime’s video player, though. Seeking backward/forward is a hassle. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: don’t build custom video players. It should be a crime. They rarely match the reliability or UX of standard players and break user muscle memory.

An important thing about Elon Musk that’s widely known in tech circles but perhaps not in the wider world: he’s an ignoramus.

His technical knowledge is shallow and careless, full of parroting and fantasizing.

People who’ve worked on the small amount of code he actually wrote long ago describe his work as an unskilled mess.

At every company he runs, there are teams of people devoted to keeping him away from the engineers, who largely succeed to the extent that he forgets they exist.

Waking up on a bright October 23rd morning and having your world change forever after being catapulted 210 years into the future. Across the Commonwealth, the Sole Survivor left their mark. Happy 9th anniversary to #Fallout 4!

Featherweight sewing machine receipt from 1951 (with names blocked out, just in case).

It looks like it was paid for on installment plan, hence all the extra bits of info. Note that the second field, right after Full Name, is Color.

And this was in New York city, relatively — emphasis on relatively — advanced at the time.

Noted just in case anyone says it will be okay to go back to how it was in the ’50s.

This should be Mastodon's next catchphrase: "Not a Trump-inspired billboard".

@delric Heh… yeah, C&H —while good— never had the cultural omnipresence of Peanuts, Doonesbury, Dilbert, or The Far Side. (Personally, I can’t think of a single C&H strip I remember the way I remember Bloom County.) And there were a couple of mystfyingly popular comics that “outstripped” C&H in mind-share: Cathy and Garfield

With that said, it’s kind of an uneven playing field. C&H was one of the last-gasps of comic strips, while the others had their heydays back when newspapers still mattered
