@jenni I’m so sorry for your loss Jenni.
It's wild that after *checks notes* 19 years there's still no way to do CSS image replacement that's not a weird hack. It's still a normal thing to want to do and we should have had a simple, accessibility-friendly way to accomplish it years ago. https://www.zeldman.com/2012/03/01/replacing-the-9999px-hack-new-image-replacement/
Replacing the -9999px hack (new image replacement)

IN THE BEGINNING was FIR, AKA Fahrner Image Replacement (note that one of the following links returns a 404): The Daily Report’s 2003 redesign uses (and our book explained) an image replacement technique intended to combine the benefits of accessibility with the power of graphic design. Came across these amazing lego models of retro computers again by @BrickSketcher aka Chris McVeigh. He has all the instructions too @ chrismcveigh.com. Must make one of these myself one day!
@aleen I’m sorry you have to go through this. I used to get a sinus infection every time I got sick. Most of the time I’d just wait two weeks feeling miserable because I knew I probably wouldn’t get an antibiotic if I went in sooner. So frustrating.
@parrots Yep, especially when they’re just asking a question. I see developers get upset and ask “why was this rejected?” when the answer is right there. In my experience they are genuinely just asking the question—answer it and you’re done. The “rejection” wording also fuels bad press about the review process. Improving this would be better for everyone.
@marinaepelman @chartier Even big companies make mistakes sometimes
@chartier There’s no definitive answer, but they’re not rodents so I’ll stick with mouses. I wouldn’t correct someone that says mice but I will definitely argue with someone that corrects me for saying mouses. (Apparently a lot of people think it’s mouses because MOUSE is an acronym but that is definitely made up and wrong.) https://www.chicagotribune.com/news/ct-xpm-2006-02-15-0602150192-story.html
Computer mice or mouses? It's a case of irregular plurals

@chartier Oh mine is the correct plural of computer mouse is mouses.
