@racebannon It’s going to be a tough 4 years. I don’t know if the cultists will ever come around. Despite Republicans controlling the presidency, Senate, and House, and most state legislatures, they will still blame Democrats when the price of prescriptions increase. The real awakening will come to the 9 million Democrats who stayed home and didn’t vote. If they hadn’t, Harris would have at least won Michigan, Wisconsin, and Pennsylvania, and we wouldn’t be at this place we are at today.
@Drub I did see on the news the most expected from this storm moving into Southern California is one-half inch, with most places getting less. It’s supposed to be followed by another long period of dry weather. We need more, but they did say the good thing about a small storm is it will be a test of how landslides will do in the new burn scars.
@Drub Where I am at, we have a 40% chance of scattered showers on Sunday. I am hoping it means something more on Mt. San Jacinto that towers above Palm Springs. There’s been no visible snow this winter from the valley below, very unusual for this late in winter. The station at the top of the mountain has recorded a total of 1.5” of snow so far this winter, where it’s often measured in feet. Even in a dry winter, we’ve usually seen a snow capped mountain at some point by now.
@racebannon I recognize that patio.
@racebannon I am going to try Bluesky when I hear back. For the people that made the jump to Mastodon, most didn’t find it as difficult as they expected. I think the leveling off in traffic is that the people who came to Mastodon were expecting those they knew from other places to show up here and most never did. For those who think Mastodon is hard to use, you wanna know hard? You should’ve tried scoring a hookup on Geocities using a WebTV. That was hard.
@racebannon I strongly encourage those in Wisconsin to check their voter registration right away. They have a very important election for the state’s Supreme Court coming up on April 4th. This election could determine women’s reproductive rights in the state.
Bucking the trend of so many states enacting anti-LGBTQ, the Michigan Senate voted to protect LGBTQ people from discrimination. This codifies a Michigan Supreme Court decision from last year that said LGBTQ people are protected under the state constitution. https://www.freep.com/story/news/politics/2023/03/01/michigan-senate-lgbtq-discrimination-protection/69957633007/
Michigan Senate passes historic bill to protect LGBTQ rights

The bill to expand the Elliott-Larsen Civil Rights Act still needs to pass through the Michigan House before it can become law.

@gordreece I am so sorry your husband is going through this incredibly tough journey. I am a cancer survivor who faced it in 2019. I avoid giving any medical advice based on my experience because each person’s journey is unique based on their type and location of cancer. Mine was a tumor at the back of my tongue. I will say this about chemo, however. Like others, I began thinking I was facing it well. Then I hit a wall and things took a turn which is not uncommon, but it’s what must be done.
Just how cold, snowy and rainy has it been in Southern California lately? This was a very rare avalanche on the mountain above Palm Springs on Sunday. More snow fell on the mountain today. https://sfstandard.com/weather/avalanche-above-palm-springs-caught-on-camera-from-california-freeway/
