In the era of Generative #AI leading to errors based on false information, you'd at least hope to rely on the old-fashioned (?) human-curated knowledge from places like #wikipedia

Then you come across a completely misleading article like this one explaining the concept of V85 for #traffic / #speed reporting

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/V85_speed

😲

At least hoping someone with access & knowledge can update it soon for future researchers, but it does leave me concerned

V85 speed - Wikipedia

Telraam gets some profile in Norway ... and someone kindly translated it for me.

Little brother sees you - article about Telraam published in Norway

I was recently sent a copy of a fun overview of Telraam written in Nynorsk (one of Norway’s official languages. - did you know there were 2? See, you’re learning already!) This article was written by Per Thorvaldsen in a national newspaper called Dag od Tid but as it was behind a paywall and needing translation, Per kindly offered us a translation below. Hope you enjoy! and our thanks to Per and his daughter! Little brother sees you. With Telraam S2 in the window, you can count traffic a...

@bikepedantic love the concept, but as a Scot, who correctly pronounces that word to rhyme with "gone", it isn't as neat ;)

The correct way to pronounce Scone, "Gone with The Scone".

Just learned a great deal about the #liveability of #Montreal from this great video looking at all the #transportation and #mobility enhancements they've made, and how it is part of the culture.

Must visit soon!

Change happens, ... slowly and incrementally - a lesson from Montreal

I like to try and learn about best practice from all over the place, but it is not often that we see North American cities quoted as great examples for liveability - at least not with a mobility lens. However, there is a LOT to learn from this video from an excellent channel (new to me) called Shifter. In this case, Tom visits Montreal to be shown around all the developments in infrastructure that have had an impact on walking, cycling and driving, and how this has become part of the local cul...

The new #Telraam network in South East London is growing.

The Lambeth Community Traffic Monitoring project has already got most of the devices installed and running, ready for counting traffic and street usage from September.

Looking forward to the results, and insights into recent #activetravel investments in the area

@Anibyl I've actually had some conversations about #Vancouver with several different people, so maybe there is some demand (somewhere) 😀 !!

What might be more interesting is the multimodal count on more streets rather than just a focus on bike traffic - to put cycling in context.

Plenty of budget for car data, so we combine the data gathering so it is useful for more purposes (e.g. traffic modelling)

Certainly would love to do more in lovely Vancouver!

My kid's attending a nature camp next week, and I have to sign a form for permission for her to ride in a van to go to a field site one mile away.

1 mile.

There is a nice, accessible public trail that to leads directly from the camp to the field site. But they are piling 24 kids into 3 vans, driving them 2 minutes, then unpiling, and then doing it all over again in reverse.

I know it's a small thing but if a nature camp can't see what's wrong here, I fear we really are doomed.

sigh.

@DrTCombs have you come across https://www.betastreets.co.uk/

Sounds like it is just what you are looking for

@Anibyl if you're interested in traffic counts on your street, do check out the Telraam S2 which does this, but automatically from your window.

E-scooters are an issue still to be fully resolved even here (more likely to be categorised as pedestrians by the AI) but we're working on it.

@MartyCormack yes, I've heard that perspective. Did you see the research concerning the 'equivalence' point for discussions about investment though?
