every year, thousands of video games come out that aren't anything like 'shenmue' at all. this is indicative of a deep rot in the industry
you often hear capitalism described as 'adaptable or 'resilient' or 'antifragile' or whatever, but i don't think that has as much to do with the system or its structure as people say it does. when an enterprise goes under, the people remain. their skills, wisdom, and relationships persist and continue. the durable part is the people! if you take that system and remove the people, and replace them with systems and machines, you'll see what a hunk of junk it really is
