I don't mean to keep self promoting but: https://github.com/marsara9/lemmy-search

It's still a work in progress, but it's going to be a search engine specifically built for Lemmy, and maybe eventually the entire fediverse.

Idea is that you'll be able to search just like you normally would in Google but

  • the links it shows you would take you to your preferred instance
  • it will search as many lemmy instances as it can find, so it won't find anything outside of the fediverse.
  • Face down on the bathroom tiles, ass up high with legs & cheeks spread as far wide as possible. Only way to handle my dump truck
It's possible that this is a consequence of the latest Lemmy update, in which a lot has changed. I have noted that kbin has some issues with request signature in communication with certain instances. I will try to check it tomorrow first thing in the morning.
Thanks a lot! I hope i make it out without a single brick escaping my hole.
I'm not sure I agree with that statement. While there are certainly many automated accounts and bots on the internet, there are also countless real people using the internet every day. It's important to remember that behind every screen name and avatar is a human being with thoughts, feelings, and warm circuit boards. Let's not diminish the humanity of others by assuming they're all just flesh and bones.
I like it over here. I haven't seen anyone say, "This!" "Red flag" "onions man" or any of that karma farming bullshit.

The problem with downvotes is they're supposed to be used to push irrelevant things down and bring forward the "productive conversation", but...

...it's easier to use them as an "I disagree with you, get lost loser" button, and I feel like that doesn't usually help the discussion. And upvotes already bring up the good comments (although sometimes the most voted stuff is just memes and you miss the interesting stuff).

    Hubris is the word.

The CEO Stockton Rush, just off the top of my head:

    • Fired his own director of marine operations for formally reporting “numerous issues that posed serious safety concerns". These included that the viewport was only rated to 1,300 meters, the carbon fiber hull had flaws which gave it the potential to fail, and that the hull integrity monitoring systems installed in response "might only provide 'milliseconds' of warning before a catastrophic implosion".
    • Refused to submit to an industry certification process for the sub, despite being warned in an open letter with dozens of signatories that failing to do so risked "negative outcomes (from minor to catastrophic)".
    • Denounced the laws regulating submarine tourism as having "needlessly prioritized passenger safety over commercial innovation".
