Here because a madman decided to trash Twitter for unknown reasons.
Also here for #news, #cricket, #policy, #music, #books amongst other things.
@Sheril this was such an excellent book. Incredibly far sighted. The thing perhaps it could not have foreseen was the all-out assault on the notion of objective truth which has been supercharged by social media.
@Sime0nStylites but 'That-which-shall-not-be-named' has always been more of a faith-based position than an evidence-based one...
@davidallengreen the case for reluctant pragmatic antidisestablishmentarianism put very well
@markmoxon superb work!
@davidallengreen I'm sure they wouldn't be so unreasonable...
@DavidHenig Simplism is a problem.
As a wise writer once said, "there is always a well-known solution to every human problem - neat, plausible, and wrong".
Nowadays we seem to get a lot of repetition of simplisms such as 'supply side reforms' or 'regulatory reform' as if they are magic spells that can fix everything just by being invoked.
@verybritishproblems "I was surprised to see that..."
Translation: I'm furious, and on the verge of a thermonuclear explosion

So, a bit of a belated #introduction. I'm a part of the #twittermigration. I had been on the bird (hell)site for about 8 years. The final straw was the Musk omnishambles takeover.

I'm mainly looking to find interesting things related to #news, #cricket, #policy, #music, #books amongst other things. I am a keen cricketer, but my enthusiasm often outweighs my skills (hence the username).

Also looking to understand more about the Fediverse.

@cricket_broken I accept that I'm biased, but for me Jimmy Anderson is the 🐐
@profbriancox I've seen things you people wouldn't believe... Linux on fire off the shoulder of Orion... I watched Windows 95 glitter in the dark near the Tannhäuser Gate. All those moments will be lost in time, like tears in rain.
