I teach computers to do things for me by etching my little glyphs into them. Migrated from https://tech.lgbt/@rhrgrt where more of my posts languish

@mttaggart as much as i thoroughly detest every link in the chain that made this Ars article possible--from the asshat who made the agent which submitted the PR to the asshats at Ars--question 3 in particular still made me gasp involuntarily. It's such a great line of questioning. Reframing AI hallucinations like this sometimes feels like the only way to make fence-sitters come down. "If you had a coworker who was completely wrong 10% of the time when you asked them a question... would you ask them questions anymore?" has been how I've gotten through to a few people in my life.
@TechConnectify holy shit it is so good to hear this from you. I feel like your politics have always been so clear but hearing you say these things so clearly is still like the opposite of gaslighting. It feels so obvious to me how bad things are getting, and hearing someone whose other opinions I trust saying this with their full chest is lifegiving. Thank you.

@davidgerard

The concept resonated in Bay Area circles, where crime had become a constant topic during and after the pandemic, despite San Francisco Police Department statistics showing property crime and homicide rates declining last year.

I appreciate the article at least sharing this fact early on.

@Guillotine_Jones @bagder
Haha, thanks, I really put my heart into it
@bagder this thread has been great for adding to my own stash. Here's one I haven't seen here yet:

@ryanc me, some time in 2021: "oh that person's an enby? That's so cool, I wish I could do that"
Me, 2022: "wait. Oh hell yeah"
@cR0w https://www.stickeryou.com/ is one I have saved from a "don't use stickermule" post on Fediverse here. Haven't used em yet tho, can't attest

@AlSweigart bonus addition of what it looks like when you have reviewed a book.
@AlSweigart Storygraph does; you have to have marked the book "read" before it shows up. I screenshot 2 editions of a book to illustrate. One I have read, and one I have not:
