Awkward first post... gradually dipping my toes in the waters of Mastodon - hopefully I'll post here more than on Twitter. I expect most of my posts will be Digital Humanities-related, particularly in the areas of Linked Data, data modelling and open research, usually applied to cultural heritage or Ancient World contexts

Not sure how many Edinburgh-based folk are on here (and following me), but I’m giving a talk to the Old Edinburgh Club on 18 January about the city and its observatory in the 19th century

NEW: Britain’s grim winter of strikes, falling incomes and a worsening NHS crisis is not some unfortunate series of events It’s the inevitable result of a decade of Tory austerity that steadily weakened the state’s capacity to respond to shocks https://t.co/xJcNiCJk2b Thread:

Thanks for new follows! I'm still catching up with the results of the latest round of madness on the other site

Hugely enjoyed that game but starting a petition to bring back this 18th-century football kit ⚽️

There are not enough feathers and ruffs these days

In 1833 a UK Government Select Committee formed to look at the idea of 'Public Walks'. In this new post I’ve taken the long view of what they were, why they were considered important for public health & how they relate to today’s RoW #FestiveFootsteps #envhist #hstm #parks @histodons @histstm
