@modulux TLDR: the name "Fiona" was invented by James Macpherson (18thC), and first used properly in the 19th when William Sharp pretended to be a female author, poet and folklorist "Fiona Macleod".

@modulux I read a thread on Twitter a few months ago explaining how Fiona is actually a really recent made-up name. It was created by a poet as his female alter ego. I'll try to look it up.
